In this lesson I teach an easy way to connect major scales across the fretboard using a long major scale link. You will be tearing it up fast and easy playing across the fretboard. Then we have a jam with a backing track to apply what you are learning. Jam tracks are an essential practice tool for the guitarist.

The Essential Guide To Guitar Virtuosity is not your typical guitar instructional ebook. It is not a theory book, or how to build guitar solos from scales, rather it is a guitar exercise training ebook.

I think, for the …
I think, for the sake of this video, he was showing the G major starting on the F# to show more uniform fingering. What the scale actually is in this case is called an F# “locrian” mode, if I’m not mistaken. There are 7 different modes…Ionian, dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian, aeolian, and locrian. They are all the same scale, but the starting point of the scale is the difference, and the mode name is where the scale starts. F# locrian is a G scale starting on the F#.

Sorry but can …
Sorry but can anyone tell me why is the scale start from F# instead of G note of the 6th string when it is a G major scale? And so in this case the ending note is no longer a G anymore.
I am still a beginner and I read from articles that the scales I need to start with the root note, in this case, the G note of the 6th string?
Thanks for any help.

Thank you for the inspiration kind sir! Next time I’m at band rehearsal I think that I will think twice about what key the song is in and what scales and shapes I can use before I improvise a solo over something. Haha, seriously though you have gotten me out of a rut by making me practice again. Thank You!
